Oceanographic center.

Architecture.

Inspired by the sea and the monstrous yet beautiful creatures that live underneath it, this oceanographic center arises to solve the problem of an endangered habitat in Peñíscola due to its growing tourism. Arranged as a compass so that every façade looks to a very different way to approach the water. Light but opaque, public but private, solid and weightless at the same time: this is a project of contrasts.

In mathematics, two quantities are in the golden ratio if their ratio is the same as the ratio of their sum to the larger of the two quantities. I used these proportions to create the projections and elevation of the building. This seemed to be even more appropriate given the links between the function of the building and nature.

Three different volumes were designed so that each one could talk about a very different topic: photography and ideas (A5), installations and calculus (A4) or technical drawings (A3).

What I did.

  • Idea.
  • Technical drawings.
  • 3D modelling with AutoCAD.
  • Render images with V-Ray for 3D Studio Max.
  • Post-production and editing with Photoshop.
